Too often the Grade Exams sylabus dictates the repertoire that a teacher might set for pupils.
The need for interesting, varied and progressive repertoire between exams requires much time-consuming research that the hard-pressed teacher can ill afford.

All this repertoire is realistically graded and provides additional material that can be used alongside the Violin Playing books.
I also offer the advice that it is good to play pieces in a concert that are well within the technical reach of the performer. Some of the repertoire for earlier levels, such as the Girard 'Ecout l'Arbre et les Feuilles' would sound wonderful played by a Grade 8 student.
All this repertoire is personally recommended by me and has been used with pupils or in my own recitals. I have divided the repertoire into three sections. The early repertoire requires no position work or difficult bowing technique.
The Grade 3 - 6 selection relates to a growing development of position work and bowing. The final selection is for advanced student who are serious about their playing and are prepared to devote time to detailed study.
